You're Finally Here by Melanie Watt

You're Finally Here! I am so happy and excited to be back at school and getting into classrooms to be with all of you. Here is a video of one of my first books this year, You're Finally Here by Melanie Watt. I hope you enjoy.
In the book, the rabbit asks, "Where have you been?", this is your opportunity to share what you have been up to. Draw me a picture and write about something that stands out in your memory from your break.

The Hidden Rainbow by Christie Matheson
|
Welcome back this week to another story time with Mrs. Farrell!
This week I am sharing an online reading of a book I just heard about. It is called The Hidden Rainbow by Christie Matheson. What I loved most about this read aloud is that the author is reading the book herself and shares ways for us to make our own rainbow craft that we can put in our windows. |
I have also included a rainbow scavenger hunt template inspired by Christie Matheson's challenge at the end of her video to get outside and look for the colours of the rainbow around us!

I hope you enjoy I Am Enough as much as I have. |

Dude! by Aaron Reynolds
I thought that this week I would share a book unlike any other I have shared during online learning. You might be wondering what makes this book so special? Well, it only has one word...DUDE.
|
Aaron Reynolds and Dan Santat have joined forces to tell the story of two surfers who encounter a shark while surfing using only the illustrations and one word.
This book emphasizes the famous quote: "A picture is worth a thousand words". In this case, the illustrations speak the story so pay close attention.

This week I thought you could check out my World Bee Day page or World Book online to do some research on bees. Then, create a quick 1 or 2 page comic sharing one new piece of information that you didn’t already know and that other people might find fascinating.
Please share your comic with your teacher and me! We’d love to see what you come up with and share with others on the World Bee Day page!

Shel Silverstein
This week I thought I would share one of my all-time favourite poets, Shel Silverstein.
What I love the most is his use of humour and how his poems are highly relatable.
The ones I shared are Captain Hook, Hug O'War, a giraffe concrete poem, and Where the Sidewalk Ends.

What's my favourite poem you ask? I love the poem Hug O'War. I have two kids of my own who are often fighting or getting into trouble with one another but they also have these moments where they giggle and hug and cuddle and everyone wins! It is those moments that I love the most and wish we can all share. |

The Feelings Book by Todd Parr
Today I shared a book by Todd Parr book with permission from Little Brown Books for Young Readers.
Over the last month, many of us, including me have gone through a range of emotions and feelings. In my house, we often feel playful and happy but we also sometimes feel frustrated and angry. Being together all the time is not always easy. I am sharing with you that I am feeling grateful…grateful to be sharing this book with you, grateful for the beautiful weather shining through my window, grateful for the time spent with my family. What are you feeling right now? I want you to remember that it is okay to feel all sorts of feelings and I encourage you to share your feelings with those you love around you. |
