Challenge 1 - The Perfect Rock
Over the last few months, I have been struck by the number of painted rocks I have come across on my nature adventures with my family. To be honest, rocks have always fascinated me and my family. We spend a lot of time collecting a variety of different rocks while out on our walks or while at the beach. We look for smooth rocks, shaped rocks, striped rocks and more. Here is a small example from our collection:
Here is a book, Everybody Needs a Rock by Byrd Baylor, which shares ten simple, but important rules when choosing the perfect rock. I hope you are inspired to go out and find the rock that is perfect for you!

Challenge #2 - The Giving Rock
In addition to observing natural rocks on your nature adventures, my family and I have come across many painted rocks along the way. From monsters and creatures to words of inspiration and kindness. Another educator (Adrienne Gear) gave me the idea of the "Giving" Rock. What I challenge you to do is find another perfect rock that you can paint with words or images of inspiration, giving, kindness, and hope.
Leave your positive mark on the world by finding a special place to leave your rock where others will see it. Maybe that is in a local park, or in your garden, along a path, or even somewhere special at the school. You have the ability to inspire others with a small act of kindness and hope.

There are many online resources to help support you getting started with how to paint rocks. Have your parent or yourself google, "paint rocks with kids" and a variety of tips and tricks can be found.
